On March 15, 2009, VH1 aired the premier of one of its newest reality television shows: Tough Love.
Hosted by relationship expert and professional matchmaker Steven Ward, Tough Love is a reality show that's designed to teach women how to drop those annoying and self-defeating tendencies that prevent them from forming lasting and meaningful longterm relationships with men.

Meet Abiola
Abiola is a 32-year-old writer from New York City. Abiola has a big personality and a big heart. She tends to shower men with attention and affection, but instead of pulling men closer, it usually has the opposite effect. Unfortunately, the men Abiola meets usually end up falling short of this Tough Love cast member's expectations and her point system.
Meet Arian
Arian is a 27-year-old model from Albany, New York. Arian says she's a local celebrity in her hometown, especially because she's invited to many bachelor's parties (which probably has something to do with the fact that she's a former exotic dancer.). Arian doesn't believe in fidelity and she's a classic example of a girl whose dysfunctional relationship with her father set the stage for her dysfunctional adult relationships with men. In fact, Arian has a "two week rule" and anytime she meets a man with true potential, she does her best to repulse him.
Meet Jacklyn
Jacklyn is a 23-year-old sales rep from Dallas, Texas. Jacklyn describes herself as a small town girl from Oklahoma who went into sales following her graduation with a degree in fashion design from the Art Institute of Dallas. Jacklyn hopes to start her own fashion boutique in the future, and in the very near future, Jacklyn wants to get married. In fact, this Tough Love cast member has every detail of her wedding already planned...and then she wonders why the men in her life are scared away.
Meet Jessa
Jessa is a 28-year-old data processor from Los Cruces, New Mexico. Jessa grew up on a dairy farm, went to college and then found herself in Dallas, Texas, where she started her career. Friends describe Jessa as warm and fun, but her fun attitude hides her deep-seeded insecurity and over-analytical tendencies. Jessa has a bad track record with men; she often smothers men in the early stages of a relationship - a tendency that's left her single and in need of a bit "tough love."
Meet Jody
Jody is a 38-year-old fashion publicist from Los Angeles, California. Jody is the personification of the saying "Always a bridesmaid, never the bride." This Tough Love cast member been a bridesmaid a total of 18 times, but she's unable to form lasting relationships. In fact, eHarmony.com dubbed her "unmatchable." But despite her relationship woes, Jody is very successful in her career, though one wonders how a woman who works promoting for a living has such a hard time promoting herself when it really counts.
Meet Natasha
Natasha is a 28-year-old tour operator from New York City. Natasha is another case of a professionally successful woman who is seriously challenged when it comes to love. Nurturing by nature, Natasha is attracted to the wrong men. This Tough Love cast member seeks out men who need "fixing," but unfortunately, the men who are in need of nurturing aren't usually ready for the serious, long term relationship that Natasha longs for.
Meet Stasha
Stasha is a 31-year-old ballerina originally from Serbia, but now living in Los Angeles, California. Stasha has a rather tragic past. The "love of her life" died suddenly of a drug overdose, and that's when she decided to leave her successful career as a ballerina with some of the world's most elite dance theatres and come to the United States. This Tough Love cast member tends to intimidate men with the hard exterior she's developed as a protection device, sheilding her kind, soft side.
Meet Taylor
Taylor is a 26-year-old model from Scottsdale, Arizona. Taylor is an admitted "daddy's little girl" who got whatever she wanted from her wealthy stepfather growing up. Unfortunately, this didn't stop Taylor from getting pregnant at a young age; she gave up her baby for adoption - a decision that's clearly left emotional scars. Taylor will need to deal with her emotional issues and begin to give men a fair chance if she's to have any chance of finding true love.
