Meet The Teams of The Amazing Race 1512 Couples Compete for $1 Million in a Race Around The World
A former Miss America, two Harlem Globetrotters, and professional poker players are among those competing on The Amazing Race 15, which premieres Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.
The Emmy-Award winning reality show, The Amazing Race, begins its 15th installment in Los Angeles, California. For the first time in the history of the show, one of the twelve teams will be eliminated at the starting line. Meet the teams who are competing for the $1 Million prize. Meghan Rickey and Cheyne WhitneyMeghan and Cheyne are from San Diego, California. Meghan and Cheyne met 15 years ago in elementary school, and were friends before they started dating. They have been dating for 5 years. Meghan works at a public affairs firm, and also coaches girls' soccer. Cheyne works for a social change marketing company. Both are athletic, and positive thinkers, and hope these qualities help them in The Amazing Race. Maria Ho and Tiffany MichelleMaria is from Arcadia, California. Tiffany is from Los Angeles. Both women are professional poker players. They have been best friends for 3 years, having met while playing poker. They are both well-traveled, competitive and strong-minded - qualities they feel are necessary to win The Amazing Race. Marcy Maloy and Ron ShalitaMarcy is a photographer and Ron is a stock trader. They are both from San Francisco, and are dating. They met a year ago through an online dating site. Marcy and Ron are the oldest couple on The Amazing Race, but they do not act it. Marcy and Ron are fit, have great people skills and high energy. They hope the fact that they have both traveled extensively, and that Marcy speaks several languages, will help them in The Amazing Race. Lance Lane and Keri MorrioneLance is a trial lawyer from Salem, Massachusetts and Keri is a finance manager from Peabody, Massachusetts. They have been dating over two years, and just became engaged last winter. Lance and Keri are athletic, and love animals and the outdoors. Lance has an aggressive personality, while Keri has a kinder, gentler approach. Herbert Lang and Nathaniel LoftonHerbert and Nathaniel are teammates, not only on The Amazing Race, but also with the Harlem Globetrotters. Herb, nicknamed "Flight Time" has traveled to over 60 countries, while Nathaniel, nicknamed "The Big Easy", has been to 30 countries, mostly with the Globetrotters. They hope that their size does not limit their travel options on The Amazing Race. Herb is 6' 3", while Nathaniel is 6'9". Gary and Matt TomljenovichGary and Matt are father and son. Gary is from Laurel, Montana while Matt is a student in Bozeman, Montana. Gary and Matt are total opposites: Gary like classic rock music and hunting; while Matt listens to metal and plays video games. They hope to understand each other better because of The Amazing Race, and are looking forward to sharing the experience together. Garrett Paul and Jessica StoutGarrett is from Santa Cruz, California and Jessica is from San Francisco, California. They have been dating off and on for 7 years and have broken up 3 times. They feel that their relationship will either grow stronger or dissolve completely on The Amazing Race. One of their biggest problems is that they both like to be in control. Combined, they have been to over 50 different countries. Brian Kleinschmidt and Ericka DunlapBrian and Ericka are The Amazing Race's first interracial married couple. They met 9 years ago and have been married two years. Ericka is a former Miss America, from 2004, and wants to be a country music artist. Brian is a sports marketing manager. They live in Nashville, Tennessee. Eric and Lisa PaskelEric and Lisa are married and own 4 yoga studios in Encino, California. They have been married 18 years. They also teach yoga classes. Eric is easy-going, carefree and trusting; while Lisa sees people for who they really are. She hopes this quality will help them reach the finish line of The Amazing Race. Sam and Dan McMillenSam and Dan are brothers from Liberty, Missouri. Both brothers recently declared to each other that they were gay. This common bond has strengthened their relationship, but they hope to form a stronger bond on The Amazing Race. Dan is organized, open-minded, spontaneous; and aggressive; while Sam is optimistic, happy-go-lucky, and passive. They fear that communication may be their downfall on the Race. Zev Glassenberg and Justin KanewZev and Justin have been friends for six years. Justin lives in Los Angeles, and is a Vice President of Production and Development for National Lampoon. Zev is from Sherman Oaks, California. He has Asperger's Syndrome, an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Zev is participating in The Amazing Race to prove that he can do anything he sets his mind to. He is competitive, funny, modest and loyal. Justin is easy-going, patient, and a problem-solver. Their biggest obstacle to overcome is the fact that Zev does not do well in large groups, a common aspect of Asperger's Syndrome. Mika Combs and Canaan SmithMika is an aspiring singer from Nashville, Tennessee and Canaan is a songwriter, also from Nashville. They have been dating only a few months. Mika tends to cry when she's upset, and Canaan believes she is too sensitive. Mika claims that Canaan is too demanding. They hope to get to know each other better during their time on The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 15 premieres with a two-hour episode on Sunday, September 27, beginning at 8:00pm Eastern on CBS.
