The newest edition of Dancing with the Stars is sure to be just as exciting as past seasons with a vast array of new contestants. This is the first season a married couple will be competing and the first time a dancer is paired with their real-life partner.
Dancing With the Stars Announces New Cast
Jewel, singer/songwriter, Dacing Partner: Dmitry Chaplin- Jewel, 34, is best known for her hits “You Were Meant For Me” and “Who Will Save Your Soul” off her first album Pieces of You. The album went platinum 12 times and sold over 27 million copies. Jewel, along with her husband, Ty Murray, are the first married couple to compete against each other on the show.
Ty Murray, professional bull rider, Dancing Partner: Chelsie Hightower- Ty Murray, 39, will compete against wife Jewel for the coveted mirror-ball trophy. Murray started in the rodeo circuit at the tender age of 5 and became the youngest ever PRCA All-Around Rodeo Cowboy.
Chuck Wicks, country singer, Dancing Partner: Julianne Hough- Chuck Wicks, 29, is a country singer that got his professional start on the short-lived reality series Nashville. His debut album Starting Now boasts the fastest rising country single of 2007, “Stealing Cinderella”. Wicks is also in a relationship with his dancing partner and fellow country singer, Julianne Hough.
Shawn Johnson, gymnast, Dancing Partner: Mark Ballas- Spunky Shawn Johnson, 17, became a household name during the 2008 Beijing Olympics winning the silver medal in the individual all-around competition and gold on the balance beam. Johnson will be the youngest contestant the show has ever had.
Belinda Carlisle, singer, Dancing Partner: Jonathan Roberts- Belinda Carlisle, 50, is the founding member of the all-girl group The Go-Go’s. Along with fellow band-mates, The Go-Go’s became the first all-girl group to have a #1 selling album that featured the hits “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat”.
Denise Richards, actress, Dancing Partner: Maksim Chmerkovskiy- Denise Richards, 37, is an actress best known for her sexy roles in Starship Troopers, Wild Things and James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. She has made headlines for her personal life including two children with actor Charlie Sheen, a nasty divorce and her new reality show, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.
Lawrence Taylor, former football player, Dancing Partner: Edyta Sliwinska- Lawrence Taylor, 50, retired from football in 1993 after a career marked with great success and struggle. Taylor played linebacker for the New York Giants for over a decade and, according to an article on ESPN.com, is one of the best defensive players in NFL history.
Lil’ Kim, rapper, Dancing Partner: Derek Hough- Lil’ Kim, real name Kim Jones, 33, was the first female rapper to #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit and the first female rapper to get a “5 Mic” award from Source magazine. She was also apart of the "Lady Marmalade" re-make with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mya.
Steve-O, television performer, Dancing Partner: Lacey Schwimmer- Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, 34, is best known for his crazy antics on shows like Jackass and Wild Boys.
Steve “Woz” Wozniak, Founder of Apple Computer, Dancing Partner: Karina Smirnoff- Steve Wozniak, 58, is the founder of Apple Computers and is credited with helping the personal computer boom in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
David Alan Grier, actor/comedian, Dacing Partner: Kym Johnson- David Alan Grier, 53, is best known for his role on In Living Color and his impressions of people like Ike Taylor and Al Sharpton.
Gilles Marini, actor, Dancing Partner: Cheryl Burke- Gilles Marini, 33, is best known for his role as “Dante” in the Sex & The City movie but has had many small parts on television shows like Ugly Betty and Criminal Minds.
Nancy O’Dell, entertainment television correspondent, Dancing Partner: Tony Dovolani- Nancy O’Dell, 42, is the co-host of entertainment news program Access Hollywood.
