NBC's reality TV weight loss show, The Biggest Loser, returns with a new group of families. Teams of two battle it out to see who can lose the most weight each week.
NBC’s hit reality show The Biggest Loser returns for another season of weight loss and personal challenges. This seasons contestants are pairs of family members looking to shed the extra pounds and regain their life. The contestants are challenged to face temptations, overcome challenges, lose weight, and learn to live a healthy lifestyle. Long hours of exercise and a closely monitored Biggest Loser Diet are in store for all the contestants.
Host Allison Sweeny and trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper return to aid the contestants on their journey. Each trainer surprises four teams with team t-shirts and a spot on the Biggest Loser ranch. Bob’s team consists of four husband and wife pairs, while Jillian will be training parents and their children.
Bob’s Teams
- Ed and Heba - Heba, age 30, begins the show as the largest woman in the house, which is in the way of her plans to start a family in the future. She and her husband Ed, 31, have only been married for a year and a half. Ed works as a chef who is constantly around food.
- Brady and Vicky - Brady, 36, and his wife Vicky, 37, have been married for more than seventeen years and have two young children. Their daughter is overweight as well, and the couple wants to teach her how to be healthy. Vicky and Brady are very competitive and have come to The Biggest Loser ready to play the game.
- Adam and Stacey - Adam is a 39 year-old with a schedule that demands busy days and travel. His wife Stacey, 33, also leads a busy life and loves to cook.
- Phillip and Amy - Philip, 41, and Amy, 40, have been married for twenty years and are parents. Their youngest son has autism, which was a challenged that caused Amy to seek comfort in food.
Jillian’s Teams
- Jerry and Coleen - Jerry is a 51 year-old police sergeant and father and may have more health risks than anyone on previous seasons of the show. He is teamed up with his 23 year-old daughter Coleen, who is sociable, funny, and dedicated to improving her father’s health.
- Renee and Michelle - Michelle, 26, and her mother Renee, 46, did not speak to each other for nearly six years after Renee divorced Michelle’s father. They recently reconciled and are fighting to lose weight and restore their fragile relationship.
- Amy and Shellay - Amy is a 26 year-old woman with an powerful voice and a sense of humor. She comes to The Biggest Loser with her 51 year-old mother, Shellay, who is a stay-at-home mom who wants to gain the confidence to begin looking for work.
- Tom Sr. and Tom Jr. - The two Toms are a competitive father and son team, ages 23 and 46, who both drive cabs and like to win at everything they do. They have a strong bond and love to laugh.
Each week, The Biggest Loser contestants will weigh in to see who loses the largest percentage of their body weight. The competitors who lose the least will fall below the yellow line and face elimination. They are not only competing to improve their own health -- they are fighting for a grand prize of $250,000 cash. The show has inspired books, exercise DVDs, and even a home delivery system for healthy meals.
